The Origin of NGUTI (How it all started)
The Hospitaller Order of St. John of God is an International Catholic Health / Charity
Organisation with more than 250 Centres and Hospitals in over 50 countries worldwide.
The services were extended to Cameroon in 1968 through the invitation of late Nzo Ekankgaki,
a native of Nguti-Cameroon who had once been the former Secretary General for the
Organisation of African Unity (OAU) .
The Hospitaller Brothers of St. John of God from the Andalusia (Betica) Province of Spain arrived Cameroon in 1968, at the invitation of the Bishop of Buea Diocese – late Julius Peteers. They settled in a village called Nguti in the South West Region, which is located 112 km Kumba, and 272 km from Douala the commercial capital.
The Hospitaller Brothers built a General Hospital of 150 beds comprising of medical, surgical, maternity, paediatric and emergency wards respectively. In addition the brothers operate outreach clinics in Eyang, Nfaitok, Tinto and Mamfe and a rehabilitation unit for children with physical impairments.

This is how we got there;
Dear reader,
We had it hot! We did not have it easy at aaaaaall ! Our brothers went through thick and thin; facing the fiercest dangers. The roads were the worst.
But we knew we will make it.
Finally our brothers arrived.
