I send you special greetings from the Saint John of God health services in this part of the central African region – Cameroon where we the followers of Saint John of God philosophy of health care currently operate health centres in Batibo, Boko and Yassa respectively.
Being that Saint John of God Hospitaller Order is a global healthcare provider that manifests its presence in all the continents of the world, staying global is a strategic quest for the Saint John of God health services in Cameroon. We want to stay on the worldwide web (www.stjohnofgodcameroon.webstarts.com) in order to be visible to our many donors and prospective donors as much as possible. We have the greatest impression that many more friends and partners of the Hospitaller Order would wish to be part of our health care development plan but are limited by information and communication. Some already know us but are not updated as much as they would have loved. It is for these similar reasons that this global network is envisaged to breach that significant gap separating us.
Since healthcare is increasingly becoming very expensive for the greater unemployed or underemployed population of our society in Cameroon, the presence of St John of God health care is everywhere solicited. That is why our healthcare plan is increasingly gearing towards accessibility, affordability and reliability. For instance our healthcare plan focus more on bringing healthcare closer to the people as much as possible through outreach clinics in remote villages.
Opening new outreach clinics in the villages is our greatest ambition which enables us to serve in the manner of Saint John of God as we come in touch with people in their natural environment. As a service our strategic mandate forming the key functions include:
Provide Comprehensive Primary Health Care Activities (Disease prevention, health promotion, Curative and Rehabilitative services)
Improve health care with excellence
Provide Social Services to the population
Institute effective, efficient and sound management system
Provide professional training in nursing and related areas
Treatment and Care for the sick
Our services are determined on becoming more sustainable than ever before in line with the policy of Saint Augustine province of Africa. The strategic plan of our services in Cameroon is focused towards sustainability.
We need more resources to renovate and rehabilitate equipment, employ qualified staffs in the centres and reach out to those in the villages. The lack of essential government support to private and faith based healthcare services a concern.
